Mango House - Galle Fort

Small, attractively decorated boutique hotel set in a former cinnamon factory. My room was very comfortable and well-appointed, with a small balcony overlooking the rooftops of Galle. It was very quiet too, other than the occasional sound of rain falling on the roof, which helped me fall asleep! The staff are friendly and very welcoming (the welcome ritual is a nice touch!), and the breakfast (served in the leafy al fresco courtyard) was particularly good, with a choice of fruit or buffalo milk curd with honey (a local specialty), followed by a main dish (hoppers for me).

Our loft room with two queen beds was clean and comfortable and had a big bathroom. Aircon and fans worked great. Breakfast was fabulous and the staff friendly. The quaint hotel is just off the fort centre in a quiet but really accessible location. Great for a family of four.

Our stay in The Mango House, Galle was short but sweet. The staff there were responsive to our needs during our stay. A lovely boutique hotel centrally located inside the Fort area with all sights within an easy 5 min walk. The room we had was well appointed; aircon very good, nice bedding and a fantastic power shower. The breakfast provided was very good. I particularly enjoyed my mixed fruit platter and Egg Benedict. All in all a very comfortable stay. We would highly recommend to anybody planning to stay in Galle.

We stayed in the family room, which has a large double bed when you enter and a lofted double bed up a small flight of stairs - ie, the room is half-split by the loft. It's a very comfortable and pleasant room, and it is the perfect size for a family with children small enough to share a bed but big enough to walk up and down stairs without help (ours are 6 and 8 years old). There is a lot of natural light, a great shower, and extremely comfortable beds. In the common areas, there are two big, pleasant seating area with coloring books and colored pencils that our kids loved. Upon check-in, we were greeted with fresh juice and a small traditional snack. The staff went above and beyond to make sure that our two rooms were perfectly appointed for us, and answered all our questions about parking, shopping, etc. The location is literal steps away from all the neat things in Galle Fort. The breakfast was generous. We will definitely stay here again.

Perfect stay at Mango House. Beautiful, atmospheric building in the heart of things but down a quiet side street. Super helpful and kind staff. We arrived in shoulder season and were given a free upgrade to a room with its own lovely courtyard. Food was delicious, we ate dinner in the restaurant on both nights. If you’re going to Galle, stay at Mango House.
